Chris,

I think there is a good picture in there, but I believe you hit your mini's with a bit too much light.

A tad less would have brought out a lot more color.

And once again, daylight foils my cunning plan! lol

I used actual sunlight for the illumination and actually intended a similar effect, such as of "just before sunset in an arid region". It comes off a bit harsh, I admit.

Yep...

It's a nice effect... it works really well on the tank!

But I think it is pretty difficult to pull off overall... I know I'd never try it.

Anyway, I say good job.  Pushing the envelop is what makes us better.

I think the Tzahal Patrol could benfit from a couple of close up shots! You get the overall effect but I kept trying to zoom in...The angle of light on the tank really shows the effect well.
Now you see that evil will always triumph because good is dumb...

Although it is not outlawed by the rules, I personally think that adding such close-up is too close to editing the picture, so I opted out of it. If the overall pic doesn´t work on its own, I wouldn´t want to try to "improve" it.

Of course, it could also be due to the varnish on the figures - tends to catch quite a bit of light, and yet sometimes, it comes out 100% flat.

I guess it also depends on what you are trying to acheive with the photo, be it a thematic entry or a more detailed showcase of painting talent.  I like the theme of the entry but still wanted to see a couple of close ups. Some recent picture-in-picture entries have acheived both thematic and detail considerations without dramatic editing. Furthermore, I think all photos tend to be 'edited' to a degree, whether it is adjusting the white balance or adjusting the levels to reflect the true colours. I find personally that some photos just don't do justice to some fine paint jobs without a little 'massaging'. It didn't change my vote though. :D
