Yet again Captain you dont disappoint - lovely entry. Whos the guy in the heavy overcoat?

Those showgirls are still fantastic even after all these weeks though.

Thanks Svennn. The Russkis are all from Foundry's Crimean War range. The Afghans are from various Foundry ranges.

I think all the figures are Perry sculpts, except the one on the left who is a Zanzibari sculpted by Mark Copplestone.

Captain, another great entry!
Any hint what colours you've chosen for the skin?

Thanks chaps  ;)

Err... Hard to say on the skin tones, since I tend to mix and make it up as I go along! But for the Afghans, I used a blend of Vallejo flat earth (a warm dark brown) and light khaki, then mixed in a bit of Vallejo flat flesh for the highlights, then added a dash of white to the mix for the final highlights.

Interestingly, I was out in India on business for the whole of last week, and I was peering at the complexions of the people I met! In Delhi, they tend to be quite pale, and I think this is even more pronounced in Afghanistan. When I got down to Bangalore, the people were a real mix - some very dark: almost negro 'black' - and some quite 'yellow' with a distinct oriental appearance...

The only tip I'd offer when painting non-caucasian skin tones, is don't think of it as brown,  black or yellow - always try to mix a bit of flesh tone in there as well, because almost all humans actually have a pinkish tinge that shows through. Maybe something to do with all having red blood, whatever our outer colour...  :)
