Cold War and Modern Vehicle Wishlist 1948 to 2000

(1/19) > >>

Arlequín:
Following a similar topic on the Interwar Board, it was suggested that one be set up for Cold War Vehicles on this board.

The purpose is to identify vehicles which are currently not produced for this period by any manufacturer, but that we would like to see made and be prepared to buy if they were. As we have the odd 'resin baron' amongst the membership, it also helps them determine what people are wanting. No promises obviously, but you never know!

Brief Rules:

1) It has to be a real vehicle, not necessarily anything more than a prototype, but there do have to be photos and/or plans etc. for someone to work off. It would be great if you could actually include a photo along with your suggestion too.

2) It can be any scale, but clearly identify which scale you are interested in. If you don't I'll assume you want 1/56th, like any right thinking person would.  ;)

3) Try and include a small amount of description (made by, wars used in etc). It helps people research the vehicle if they choose to have a go at it.

4) It must not already be in production in the scale requested. Mistakes are inevitable though, so where there is one available to buy, I'll edit the post to indicate this. If a suggestion is posted and you know where there is one available, don't hesitate to point this out!

You can vote for more than one... all of them in fact, but I'd respectively ask that you only vote if you would actually be prepared to buy one in the event it was made. That makes it much fairer all round and of course makes this somewhat useful to manufacturers.

I'll try and keep on top of additions and deletions as appropriate... but I might have to set a limit of entries on the poll at some point if it gets too unwieldy.

'Cold War' was the option suggested, but I am happy to set one up for 1990 onwards if anyone wants that.

I've set the ball rolling with some of mine, let's hear yours!

:)

*Edit* As new items are added, you will have to 'remove vote' and vote for your choices all over again, if you want to select newer additions. A bit klunky I'm afraid, but I can't do anything about that, sorry.

I'd like to see the following

EE-11 Urutu APC and the associated EE-9 Cascavel armoured car. These were big exports for Brazil in the 1970s and '80s and saw a lot of use across the region andi indeed the globe. Iraq was a big user of the Urutu and they saw service in the Iran-Iraq and Gulf War(s). Colombia is still using them on active operations as is the Brazilian Marine Corps. Any scale with 1/50 or 1/56 as my preferences.

M-59 APC Cos everyone who wants a classic Cold War ride needs one. You want retro Mars Attacks? You want one of these.

Type 62. Basically a mini-me scaled down version of the T-59, the Chinese copy of the T-54. Saw quite a lot of export, Tanznia, Albania etc and were extensively used by the Chinese against Vietnam in 1979. Actually if someone would produce a 1/64 scale T-54 it would do the trick nicely.

Type 63. The Chinese 85mm gun armed version of the PT-76. Groovy bowl shaped turret and saw a lot of service around the globe.

T-62 . Yes, the classic 1960s Soviet MBT. Nothing currently in production in 1/50 or 1/56 although there is a fairly pricey 1/48 version in resin from Gasoline. I want the version with the horseshoe armour for Afghanistan. Rumour has it there might be a new and fairly extensive range of 28mm Soviet troops for the Afghan War coming out in the not too distant future so this mightbe the perfect time. ;)

1/56 Gaz-69. Actually any scale would do. Russia's answer to the jeep and no bugger produces one. The pram version with Swatter ATGMs would be wonderful.

1/56 early model Land Rovers, Series I, II and 3. Yes they do exist but so far you have only the Commando Miniatures Series I and a 1/50 ish TAG Series IIA that's seems to be based on the Pink Panther version with which you get wheels and no spare. I have seen a Shapeways 1/55  Series III but it's hideously expensive. Given how ubiquitous the Landy is/was, it's frankly amazing nobody produces more.

A big hulking piece of resin with a big gun. I'd happily take a Conqueror, an M103 or a T-10M. Monster tanks are cool in any period but unlike paper panzers these all saw service and were built in respectable numbers.

Oh and I still want a Panhard EBR VTT for my Portuguese :)

CompanyB:
I've moved the m41Walker bulldog ahead in our model que to be next for our 3D experts.  Now, even though I'll have the printed master in a month, we still need folks that want it so I can put it into production.

T-62.  I wanted  to do one after the BTR 50 is out.  Hey guys, buy out all the BTR's when they are released and fund the new kits  :)

carlos marighela:
Done. I'll take three if you can wait until Feb.

carlos marighela:
Ok, I have an M-41 but I'll buy another. Remote chance you would release the necessary bits to modify one to the upgraded Brazilian version? Needs a new gun (90mm) some side panniers for the turret and a new engine deck. I have a number of photos on my laptop if you are interested. Happy to take more if need be. Don't need much of an excuse to go to Conde de Linhares again, it's handy to a favourite lunching spot.
