Rumble in the Jungle -- Pulp Alley AAR
« on: December 09, 2013, 06:14:11 PM »
We played a bunch of games over the weekend, testing some of the new rules for our Pulp Alley vehicles expansion. Here are some photos from one of the games the guys played --

The historic race between Mr. Birkigt and Captain Mgebrov can now be told…

Both vehicles handle the first hazard and keep on rolling…

Mgebrov starts to pull ahead as they reach the first turn…

Mr. Birkigt takes the corner wide and is slowed by the rough ground…

The sound of massive claws ripping at the rear of his car encourages Mr. Birkigt to test the limits of his new motor…

The Swiss catches Mgebrov down the straight-away but his speed forces him to the outside of the tight turn…

The gunners in both vehicles open fire on the monstrous thing in the lagoon…

Birkigt’s vehicle scores the kill, but Mgebrov speeds quickly through the turn and pulls away…

A powerful hit from the pursuing beast forces Birkigt into the cliff, but his gunners score another kill!...

Captain Mgebrov’s Renault earns him the win, but it is Birkigt who comes away with the best trophies!...

THANKS

You tested your vehicle rules, by having a armoured car race, tank guns and all, IN A JUNGLE WITH DINOSAURS?
... I think I will need to purchase your base rules soon, your madness is most alluring.

To be honest, it didn't start out that way. One thing led to another and before I knew it there were armored cars and dinosaurs racing through the jungle.  lol lol

We designed the Pulp Alley vehicle rules to make it easy to add different kinds of vehicles without slowing or complicating the scenario (no charts!). So they all had lots of fun trying weird combinations of stuff. Plane dogfighting a pterodactyl? Yup, that happened.  lol lol

THANKS

Will there be rules for trains too? Running on roofs, jumping on or off while the train is in motion? A scenario were reinforcements arrive after X turns? Surviving a wreck after someone puts a sleeper on the rails? Replicating the classic "perils of Pauline" moment where some must be rescued from train tracks?

I joined my gun with pirate swords, and sailed the seas of cyberspace.

I thought about trains quite a bit and I think they will more appropriately be covered by current rules along with some special rules specific to the scenario.

For example, running on the roof of a moving train and jumping from the back of a running horse onto a train is simply resolved as a peril - albeit 'extremely perilous'.

Mila laughs when I use this term, but I really think of trains as "mobile terrain" rather than a vehicle. So we'll probably touch on trains briefly if at all.

That makes complete sense to me.

By the way... man, that Hispano-Suiza armoured car looks huge!

By the way, I assume the vehicle rules will finally explain what the base rulebook means by a "Size 1 or 2 vehicle"?

Yup, the secret shall finally be revealed!  lol lol

Size 1 is bascially motorbikes and cycles with sidecars.
Size 2 is all the common stuff like cars, pickups, vans, and such.
Size 3 is for the big stuff like cargo trucks.

lol lol lol That would be awesome!

There's actually a fairly long list of vehicle modifications, so I think folks will have some fun with those kind of racers.

HAVE FUN
