Wet water - or how long to dry? Answered by self :-)
« on: December 09, 2013, 07:08:00 PM »
Hi,

I'm using Magic Water to fill in some puddles / marsh area and:

  • I used the correct ratio of hardner
  • I mixed it very well (5-7 minutes)
  • I had a few bubbles but a light blow on the surface removed them
  • I have added a few twigs / flock sprinkles onto the surface

The room is not that warm (outside is 3-7deg C) and the puddles have slightly set but the mix is tacky and pulls into a sticky string after leaving it for over 24 hours.

Does anyone have experience of this resin and if it will every dry?

(And before anyone says - Portable wargame I'm just trying to clear some other bits up before the next stage…)

Well to answer my own question allow 48 hours in cold weather.

Result is great though:

Clear
Smooth
Minimal miniscus
Hard to the touch

Hairdryer.

In 1994 I took a biblical game to SELWG with some river sections which I filled with resin a couple of days beforehand. Weather was fairly warm, but I was panicking. I always wondered what they were useful for!

I remember those things - used to have one but traded the hair in for worry over kids and money lol
