Anyone tried Black Cat Bases (http://blackcatbases.com/)?

They have a very nice looking HP Lovecraft.

Read this thread before even considering placing an order with them - http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=59375.0

Lead Adventures has the best-looking HP Lovecraft anyway!  :D

Well, I have Andrew's site on there already, but I should certainly mention that your site carries the line in the US.

Always interested in finding new Pulp (or Pulpy) miniature ranges.

I would like to suggest a couple manufacturers for this thread.

The folks at Gorgon studios have a set of Prohibition era cops and crooks.
http://www.gorgon-studios.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=15

Steve Barber Models have some prehistoric critters and gangsters and G-men.
http://stevebarbermodels.com/

I guess I'm not the first to suggest Black Cat Bases, but they deserve a second mention.
http://blackcatbases.com/

Black Army Productions has a number of Pulpy figs under their Champions of History line or their Shanghai 1930 figs.
http://www.blackarmyproductions.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=featured&Itemid=464

Tengu Models has some spectacularly nasty Lovecraft material.
http://www.tengumodels.co.uk/index.htm

Warlord Games, under their Bolt-Action line, have some excellent WWII 28mm military vehicles and planes.
http://us-store.warlordgames.com/collections/bolt-action

Miriliton SG has some of the old Grenadier Call of Cthulhu Minis
http://www.mirliton.it/index.php?cPath=990

And em4 Miniatures has a line called Dunwich Detectives (also for Cthulhu) that provides a few Pulpy protagonists and critters.

There. That should cover my posting requirements as a new member.

An excellent way to introduce yourself! Welcome to LAF, we're all crazy here but nobody bites.

There is an Introductions forum, the done thing is usually to wander in there and "formally" say hello, but it's not a hard and fast rule!

I was going to add Statuesque Miniatures - http://statuesqueminiatures.co.uk/ - to the list, new but a slowly expanding range of pulp-flavoured good stuff, and they're the UK stockist of the Pulp Alley rules too.

Statuesque is already on the list.  :D

I've added most of Lancy's suggestions. Black Cat will have to show a bit longer of a period of good behaviour before I'd feel comfortable recommending them to anyone.

Pardon me, Mr. FramFramson,

If it's not telling tales out of school, I'd like to know what problems you have experienced with Black Cat Bases, or what feedback you've gotten from their customers. I've never ordered from them and I'd really like to be for-warned about any less-than-professional behavior.

Is there a thread on this site for posting about poor customer service?

And it's Glancy, by the way.

Ah! Good to know.

As for Black Cat, you can read about the whys and wherefores here: http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=59375.0

The short version is that they had an eight-month period where they just... didn't fill any orders. They seemed to eventually start shipping things again, and tried to make good with some coupons and the like, but as I understand it the owner is still having various troubles and there are still problems with recent orders and communications. To be frank I think at least for now you're still taking a big chance on orders from them.

Swear to Dog I skimmed the list before suggesting Statuesque, I did!  ;D

And yes, given the recent issues BCB seems to be having, I'd agree with leaving them off the list for now. Pity, as they make a bunch of cool stuff...

Wow.

That link to the thread on Black Cat Bases was an eye-opener.

When it comes to ordering online, it really pays to have sites like this one where the consumer can go to check out who they are dealing with. Even in a town the size of Seattle, there are very few retailers stocking the kinds of minis I want and I have to do all my business via the internet.

Most appreciated.
