This is progressing nicely and I haven't even pledged yet! I'll be doing so as soon as I get some bills cleared away.

It occurred to me the other day that some reclining figures (ie. on divans) would be good stretch goals, or possible goals for future additions.

Hornists and wild animals as pets, are also good ideas, IMO...

Not sure which story the first pic is from, but the second is from "Asterix and Cleopatra" and the third is from the live action film of the same name.

Oh damn its been to many years, I remember glancing though a few of them when I was a kid at rest stops but never saw an English version.

I'm not sure how many have been translated. We used to have little paperback versions. Asterix in Britain was my old favourite! I know some of the names were changes in the English versions and presumably some of the jokes.

All are in English, supposedly all translated by the same people, but I think the most recent one had some really weird wording. Doesn't count anyway since it's the first that wasn't made by with of the original two guys (well, with the writer being dead for years I can't blame him

).

I guess it depends where you live. In Australia, it seems every book store, school and library has them.

Not prevalent at all in the US, that is unless you get into a niche comic book store. After he said the name I face palmed becase I remembered it reading a few when my folks were stationed in Germany.

I'd love to be in on a Kickstarter for Asterix as well! I've read it since I was a boy and had the film on video when my kids were growing up!

I have over 30 Asterix books. The first ones obtained from a petrol station promotion, my father had to buy from that particular company untill I had all the Asterix books they offered. The earlier ones were by far the best, with my favorities including:In Britain; The Legionary & Cleopatra.
The books contained wonderful characters (Unhigenix the fish monger & The Pirates for example).
A German company used to make 25mm figures. The legionaries I have painted but the Gauls & Pirates have never made it past the undercoat stage, but then in my world 19 years is not a record for an unfinished project.

By the by, that first Asterix picture is from Asterix et la Zizanie, though I forget the title in English.

My brother has all our old Asterix. I need to replace the whole series if I want reading copies again.

EDIT: Oh it's "Asterix and the Roman Agent" in English.
