Mi57 goes Weird War - [Cross of Iron... 28/02/14]
« on: January 23, 2014, 02:13:23 PM »
Afternoon all.

As my Achtung! Cthulhu models arrived recently, I started to paint up some of my plastic/metal mountain so I've got some working forces before the skirmish system gets released later this year.

First up we've got a Bolt Action ready Commando force. I originally bought the plastic set to make characters for my A!C rpg sessions, so it seems only fair that they all come out to play.

We have our brave officer and his adjutant

An artillery observer to call in long distance strikes

A medic, just to everyone around a little bit longer

Two squads of 8 commandos. Each have 4 smgs and 1 lmg

And to add a bit of punch we've got a PIAT team to try and deal with any light tanks or large creatures

And a sniper team to try and take pot shots at weapons teams or officers

They are accompanied by two of the Achtung! Cthulhu characters

The guy on the left is rather... short compared to the other commandos.  Thankfully most of the Bolt Action figures are hunched over as well, so he doesn't look completely out of place, but he is small.

So they have something painted to actually face off against, one of my Dust walkers was painted up after being converted into Sigrid's personal mode of destruction

Commando Fred sneaks up on the walker, ready to plant some explosives... *Kaboom*

Great stuff, mate!
 :-*

I am extending my own SA stuff in this direction later in the year.
The troops have already been recruited.
 ;)

Who makes the officer?

He is converted (head swap) from one of White Knight's Pulp figures:

Thanks guys. As Mason said, the officer is from White Knight. Some of his other pulp figures will eventually make an appearance in here too; they are all sitting in the painting pile. They are some way down the pile though as there are some Russians, some Germans and the rest of the Modiphius models to come first. Possibly some other Dust walkers for both sides

Same here, mate.
I have finished Ciderman and the big lump with the gun.
Both are in my Strange Aeons project and the other two shall join them when I too follow you down the WWW2 meets Mythos route.
 ;)

Very inspirational, sir.
Following all this with much interest.

The British have that magic Sikh guy though.  Who knows what HE can do.  Air elementals all up in da house yo, or something.

By the looks of things, Nyarlathotep has some sort of agreement with the German high command as some troops have started to mutate into servitors, immediately identifiable as followers of the crawling chaos. These lesser servitors are led into battle by some overlords who retain eyes in their tentacled heads and more humanoid hands capable of manipulating modern equipment

Overlords of Nyarlathotep

Servitors

These are from Modiphius' Achtung! Cthulhu range of models and are really nice to paint. There are a couple of other beasties in my >>>Strange Aeons thread<<<

Nice work, sir.
I like the way this project is heading.
 :-* :-*

In fact it was this thread that got me thinking along these lines again recently...and it led to a game!
So...Thank you!

Damn. That is some fine work and a mess of fun minis to be playing with too.
Always a treat to come back to this fine thread.

Meantime you have me wondering if all this A!C stuff could work in 20mm... o_o
Television is rather a frightening business. But I get all the relaxation I want from my collection of model soldiers. P. Cushing

Not to worry; I imagine the British have some Deep Ones held in reserve.
