I'm getting concerned that you can read my mind David. I had the same sort of table layout in mind about 2 years ago for a game in our village hall, with the river in-between the tables and the boats moving along on one tile.   lol
Now, you've not answered the question everyone wants to know.....did you manage to save Gordon?

P.S. any idea where the city walls and buildings came from? Some look like they're from Germany (can't remember the manufacturer's name), the rest I can't place, unless they're scratchbuilds of course.

Ha ha.. oh yes in the nick of time the river column broke through .

I can make terrain when I put my mind to it, but it’s a balance of time/effort and cost. I decided to outsource a lot of the terrain items as there is a lot of good stuff out there ..
The walls and towers were made by Andy at Colonial Steamboat Company http://www.colonialsteamboat.co.uk top job .no extra work require , and good value

The large mosque was by Adrian’s Walls http://adrianswalls.co.uk

The othe large building were resin made  Jens from Najewitz from Germany. No longer in production I believe , as has now moved to,some 3D printing options .

I picked some other bits from Crisis last year (in search of more next month!)

Other buildings were by Belgian on LAF who sold em off needing a paint job . Lucky me as they are a great build

Najewitz, that was the name I couldn't remember. Shame they've moved to 3D printing, I would have bought some if they still made them, I remember a post on her a long while ago saying they were going to produce city walls next but nothing appeared. I didn't realise Andy at Colonial Steamboat would do commissions. Interesting.

Spending a little time back with this project , I have a few new items to add to it  . Adding in the New South Wales infantry battallion and some water carriers

The collection is booked for another full run out in May .. and I may have it at Partizan again

Good to see some Australians. They didn't have a banner? (I'm not knowledgable on these things mind you.)

Edit: never mind, looks like you add banners separately. Nice additions.

The Brits didn't carry colours into battle in this period. Not sure about the Aussies, but it seems unlikely.

A quick look at the Australian War Memorial archives tells me they probably didn't:

Yes, these are departure images of the NSW contingent to Sudan, but if you say the British didn't carry any colours, I doubt the colonial forces did either (but again, I note my complete lack of knowledge on this subject).
