Nice Burnaby figure, I wish the Warlord version had the braiding on the jacket like this instead of being left plain. All the photos of him I've seen have him in uniform, usually with the braiding. It's a pity you can't get those Martian rock forms from Gale Force anymore, I've searched everywhere for them but all out of stock  :(

Thanks mate. I reckon I'd have to try to convert some Perry/Empress figures for the Ambulance Corp as you have done. Redoubt are big by comparison.

Still looks wonderful though  :-*

Lots of beautiful figures on display in this thread...

I'd never seen those Redoubt camel ambulances before and will have to go buy a couple right now, thanks very much for posting those pics, Deedles!

Darrell, since you are on the look for Second Afghan War and Sudan Campaign supporting arms, not sure if you know of these or not, but Castaway Arts in Australia also make a 28mm camel ambulance -- albeit for the less severely wounded, as pictured here:

Here's a good pic of a very nicely painted version courtesy of the Lonely Gamers blogspot:

(***Sorry for the huge size of the above pic, I tried to shrink it down several times but obviously without any success!***)

In case you are interested, here's a link to the Castaway Arts catalogue, where you can click on the "Baggage/Transport" page to see the Camel Ambulance listed:

https://secure.iig.com.au/castawayarts/index.php?cmd=store

I got three for my own Second Afghan War Anglo-Indian forces and converted two of them, one with Bandaged wounded heads from Woodbine Designs and the second with Turbaned heads from a couple of Wargames Foundry figures....

Mad Guru,

I'll be buying all of the above! The Sudan, being a large expanse of desert punctuated by rocky outcrops and waddi's in the main begs for vignettes to draw the eye to the table.

I'll actually be guying all the models twice, once for the NWF and once for the Sudan- unless I can figure out a way of making them work for both?

Darrell.

Wow, I think that was the fastest reply to a post ever, Darrell, as you replied while I was still editing!

Actually, I think you could very well get away with using the same camel ambulances for both Sudan and NWF/Second Afghan War, so long as the injured are dressed in khaki.  Then there is the question of the Native camel driver... which might be a bit more tricky, unless you use separately based figures, in which case it won't be a problem at all.  Even if you base the Native driver on foot on the same base as the camel ambulance, it would take a serious stickler to criticize turban and/or native dress style as being inappropriate for either theater of battle.
