WSS 71: Now with gleaming Whitechapel Gun Club Rules!
« on: February 20, 2014, 05:43:19 PM »
Just got my 'open the PDF' notice, and, while I was disappointed by the lack of new IHMN support [what, the blog and supplements and OWN LAF FORUM isn't enough?!?], I was delighted by the article 'Weird Victoriana for Dummies'. Four pages of description, and a bit of rules. Okay, you get most of the rules in the downloadable ref card, but it's still a fun read.

And fun-ly painted figs we know so well!

Oh, Richard, about the character cards. Powerpoint is a bit weird but functional, I suppose, but can you go back and edit the 'blank' card? Make 'Whitechapel Gun Club' and 'Name', instead, boxes with light grey titles of 'GROUP' and 'NAME', respectively? Leaving the Special Ability: a white box lacks some snazz, but some printers have ink that can make writing problematic.

I've printed out same to share with the lads, so they may have an actual review, with real comments about the rules and everything.  :D

Glad you liked the article Doug.
Looking forward to seeing it myself (sometimes what I submit and what ends up getting used, isn't quite the same thing ;))
Shame if the rules card itself didn't make it into the printed article... I did point out to our illustrious WS&S editor that the thing wouldn't make an awful lot of sense without the basic postcard-sized rules being included... Ah well. I await my copy with interest.
As the article implies, the rules are just a bit of light relief really... Demonstrating that one can have a perfectly good game and capture the flavour of the VSF genre without humungus rulebooks and endless complicated army lists.

I'll need to ask Christy (WS&S graphic design supremo) if the ppt. they've uploaded can be edited. Must admit I thought I'd provided a completely blank template, but maybe not...  ::)
Truthfully, if anyone's minded to give the game a try, they can always take the character card layout and amend it for themselves...

I'm a bit of an M$ hater, so not an expert with any bits, particularly PPT. When I open to edit, it loses all the neat fonts and lovely art.  :'(

My dear Beast, Charles and I are working on a new secret project for WSS.

Can't say more or we'll have to send Lord Curr to your domicile  :D

Now, Craig, I did admit I'd more than enough to stay busy for some time.

IHMN was the reason I started up the sub, but haven't processed nearly all I've gotten so far. Then, Sir Randall gifted me a couple of pre-painted oriental dragons for my Tong. Not a clue on stating same...

As for Lord Curr, he's already at my domicile, and none too happy! Been in primer FOREVER, and his lovely lady, the same sad fate.  I've already heard all the threats his fevered mind can create. ::)

What's that, m'lord? Oh, right.

I guess he hasn't quite exhausted his imagination.  :o
