My New Napoleonic Project (update 25 Apr)
« on: February 25, 2014, 10:36:07 AM »
Greetings folks,
Here are some pics of the first Napoleonic's that I've painted for a very long time.
This is a new project that is aimed at getting me interested again into my favorite period via a new set of rules. I had some plastic Perry's and Victrix sitting around so I thought I'd start painting whilst I wait for my Wurttembergers from Front Rank (they arrived a couple of days ago).

Below is a link to my blog. It's the place where I write uninteresting things about little toy soldiers. I do this because I refuse to grow up and behave like an adult.

Beautiful. Well, that's selling them short. Really beautiful.

What sized base are they on?

You really made them come alive. Beautiful brush work and shading. They look ready for action on your gaming table. Thanks for sharing.

Nice paintwork!!

There seems to be a reddish undercoat on some of the white, near the ankles and creases, did you use a brown undercoat or is it just the lighting?

Cheers,
Thomas

No word from Zoot Horn Rollo but The Maskara Snake is doing well as is Big Joan.

It's taken me ages to post anything new on this thread but that's not because I've not been busy. I actually painted up the two battalions below and I was waiting on some flags that I ordered. They took ages to get to me and they were not exactly what I was expecting as I wasn't very happy with the product I received. So, after a I ended up making some flags myself using photoshop which I made slightly over sized (because big flags are good flags and I'm more interested in appearance than exact historical replication).

Anyhow, here are the two battalions of the 1st Wurttemberg Regiment (Prinz Paul) and I'm pretty happy with the end result.
Please let me know what you think.

Nice colours - particularly the white and yellows.

Those are spectacular! I concur whole-heartedly on flags. I always make mine slightly oversized.

And another French battalion...
This time I used a darker wash to see what effect I would get and I'm pretty happy with the results. I think I'll use this method for further units. I also prefer the Perry figures rather than the Victrix so I think I'll be sticking to these in the future (and until I run out of Victrix).
