Poundworld and Poundland UK have packs of Shot-glasses 30 and 40 to a pack some clear and others tinted. Which when inverted would make nice stable temporary flying bases (clear) or pressure vessel storage tanks if painted. I purchased 3 packs and now have in excess of 90 for my gaming pleasure.

You can use them to show models are airborne by simply slipping them underneath a normal miniature. I've even used them with Battlemechs to show a jump move. (Incredibly stable and sturdy up to a point of heavy handedness)

Alternatively you could fill them with strong drink and slowly work your way through them. This won't help your wargaming-fu but it will be fun! Until the apocalyptic level hangover.  :D Now off to Poundland....

Anyone in the UK missed this on TV yet?

http://www.dinosaurdiscovery.co.uk/

A new partwork that lets you build two 1.2m tall Tyrannosaurus models over time - one skeleton, one life appearance. Part one gives you the main part of the skull and 18 push-in teeth for 99p. It's still on sale in shops, last I saw a couple of days ago. It has possibilities for scenery but because it's big, chunky 27cm long lump of plastic, it might be best suited as a goofy-huge Warhammer-Realm-of-Chaos style terrain piece, or a carved stone effigy, possibly as part of a dark lord's fortress.
Me, I'm getting it because I'm mildy tickled by the idea of a big(gish) Tyrannosaur skull lying about the place. I think I'll pick up the second part for the skull interior, but at £6 for each subsequent issue that might be as far as I go. Maybe also take a bit of putty and accurise up the design/moulding considerations. It's not too bad. Better than the dusty, mushy, grey, outdated pics in the NHM-connected magazine it comes with. But I digress.

And for more dinosaurs, I saw the local Poundstretcher has a couple of better-than-average examples. A decent Triceratops and, way out of left field, what looks like a Miragaia!

Edit: This guy's repaint on Deviantart makes it look better. Not bad for two quid!

Quite a localised post here but I know I'm not the only Geordie on this forum- The Entertainer at the Metro Centre has the packs of 20 Dr Who Cybermats for only a quid.

My first post after much lurking, and a declaration of my utter cheapskateness... 3 food containers for 99p from Poundstretcher, a quick spray, and ta-da. Barely passable Mega-City Terrain.

Not from Poundland but close enough,
the STAR WARS Command figures at 69p a pack . You get nine figures in a pack but they are about three inches tall therefore not of use to most gamers. Someone might have a use for them

Heres a link to show you what they look like

sorry about that ,it's my bad i forgot to say
They are from  HomeBargains
They also have box sets containing nine figures and four space ships for £2-99
the one i bought contained two jedi starfighters and a vulture pod which were all about 15mm scale. The other vehicle was an ARC170 Starfighter but that was small probably closer to 10mm or 6mm scale

Not poundland, but rather more upmarket! I bought this form Disney shop in Birmingham's Bull Ring Shopping center. It normally retails for £7 but it was in a clearance sail for £3.50! Nice!

Theres more 28mm Superhero Madness at my blog, http://fourcoloursupers.blogspot.com/
And for Ultra-modern Wargaming check out Hotel Zugando at http://ultramoderngaming.blogspot.co.uk/

Weathered and everything. :)

Probably the most exciting thing in this thread: a cardboard tube!

Found in Poundstretcher, reduced for what I hope is an obvious reason. Every tube, for Pringles and things, gets eyed up for tower duties; but ideas of multiple slottable floors and interiors, like a medieval Sylvanian Families windmill, happened when I looked at this. The inner tube still needs a bit of cutting, but IMO the hard work's already done for 50p.

And the biskwits are still tasty, too.

If you're buying a cardboard tube anyway, it helps if it's stuffed full of sugary snacks. lol

Mmm glad the bishkuts taste good. lol

Just for elucidation, I dunno how far these ads travelled, but well, hence 'biskwits' and 'mini Vinnies'. :)
