Draught Horses 28mm
« on: March 07, 2014, 08:31:45 AM »
I just bought and built the wonderful Hearse wagon from Sarissa and ordered up two draught horses from Dixons, but they are way too small. I suspect the wagon may be on the 'Heroic' scale however it fits in fine with the 4Ground wagons, it just requires two big horses to look right.

Anyone any ideas where I could get a couple?

I don't know the sizes of these but Essex miniatures sell a pair of draught horses, Trent miniatures ditto
For something different Askari do draft mules

If you want something HUGE along the lines of a Percheron or Belgians, stand about 17 hands. Then maybe look towards "O scale" railroad stuff.

Sorry, do you mean 'draft horses'?  Like a team to pull a wagon?

Draught and Draft are simply two ways to spell the same thing, more of that two nations one language thing.

Thanks for the ideas. I have decided to try Perry Miniatures as they tend to be a bit on the large side so I got a team of horses from them, I also bought a Civil War horseholder, as I thought the standing horses perfect to line the streets, he comes with four.

If that doesn't work for you, buy the toob of horses from a toy or hobby store and use the Clydsedale & Percheron figures. The reast of the horses will come in handy in an old west setting too.

The Front Rank draft/draught horses are your best bet as they 'heavy' horse rather than the 'mediuum' sized horses by Perry.
