I'm a fan! Nice to see some historic (cly inspired) style creepy crawlers instead of another giant version of modern day stuff.

Saw them when I wasn't logged in and forgot to comment latter on.

Reminds me of the first time I held a horseshoe crab in my hands at Cape Cod. I understood Cthulhu in that moment.

Andrew Taylor has taken his talented brushes to my Histath model!  It's now officially for sale, as is the Jungle Queen.

Very nice. May I suggest that the webstore (if you've got one) or the current Facebook page URL is in your signiature block? I can't find it looking (the Facebook link didn't work).

Also, what's the latest on the lions and their handlers?

That is an excellent suggestion, thank you!  I don't have a webstore, all my orders are via email (for now).  I've updated my signature & home page info.  The FB link won't work unless you have a FB page, but I've updated that, too.

The lions and their handlers are still in Tre Manor's hands - they have been delayed by his most recent Kickstarter, but they're still on his workbench, coming "soon".

Lovely sculpts. I am not into Lost World stuff but that merchant and the sleepy sentries are the dogs danglies. LPL winners, if I am any judge. I will be thinking of a way to find a use for them. GoT,  maybe? Mereen people?

I like to think that my stuff is appropriate for Swords and Sorcery/Low Fantasy, too.  Conan the Barbarian would feel right at home in Azor (although their blase attitude towards non-human races would surprise him).  Heck, Doc Savage and Indiana Jones stumble across them all the time.  Marvel Comics has the Savage Land, there's Carson of Venus...

Space Opera, Superheroes, Steampunk, Fantasy, modern, Swords and Sorcery - nearly every genre of gaming could conceivably support an undiscovered land (valley, island, cavern, planet, alternate dimension, whatever) full of ancient ruins and dinosaurs.

The human civilization in Azor is based somewhat on Minoan Crete, so most of my human models should work as gaming stand-ins in various ancient Mediterranean civilizations.

I posted these to Facebook, so I thought I'd share them here, too - new sculpts by JohnEdwin 'Tre' Manor!

They're works-in-progress, they're not quite complete yet.  Also, there's a second spearwoman in the works, to match this first one.  I was too excited to keep them to myself anymore!

The Lion Women of Azor have been training and raising lions since the city was founded a thousand years ago. After so much time selectively breeding the animals, they're not quite the same as lions from the outside world. They have a temperament more similar to dogs than to wild lions - Azorian Lions see humans as part of their pride, and respond well to verbal commands.

As soon as they are weaned from their mothers, cubs are given to an adolescent girl to raise - usually a member of the nobility, but occasionally a wealthy merchant's daughter or even a favored servant. As the old saying goes, "No home is complete until you have a fountain in your courtyard and a lion for your daughter." A lion is greatly valued as a status symbol, pet, guard, and companion.

The queen looks great, but I gotta say, those lions look a bit... on the thin side. Hunting not so good in Azor?

I like the lions - beautiful muscle massing to create movement. They may need a little more stomach to what we're used to - but based on the background I think the look suits them. Think medieval hunting dogs.

The stomachs seem fine, actually. And the musculature is right and nice. It's the proportions that seem off, mainly the forelegs look thin. A lion is fairly stocky, at least up front.

However, maybe this is all fully intentional, and the lions of Azor are a sleeker breed with a more dog-like look given their role as pets. In which case my criticism isn't really valid!

Yep, I don't buy them as regular lions, but as a different related species, they are very cool designs.
