I'll also have the Pterro-Man figure back in stock in Mid-April, along with the new stuff:

I sculpted some accessories, too, a nest of dinosaur eggs and a couple of little cycad ferns that are small enough to use to decorate figure bases.

These will also be for sale at the Emerald City Comicon, and available online in mid-April.

This here is just an early in-progress picture, but I'm super stoked about it, so I'm going to show it off!

A serpent man sculpted by Mr. John Dennett!  Some of you may remember his work from Grenadier in the 1980's - his Monster Manuscript figures are still some of my all time favorites.

The Histath are a race of mostly plains-dwelling dinosaur tamers and riders.  Nomadic and predatory, they live in small family groups or tribes, occasionally uniting to raid (or trade with!) the human and subhuman inhabitants of Azor.

It took me FOREVER to settle on a design for the snake men that I was happy with.

I've liked the idea of serpent men ever since I read about them in the Kull and Conan stories, although I'm sure that Kobra Khan from He-Man, Tarzan's Horibs, the Yuan-ti from D&D and Raymond Feist's Pantathhians all figure in there somewhere... snake men aren't exactly rare in fantasy fiction or in tabletop gaming, but I've never been totally happy with how any of them look.  Not to say that there aren't some great figures out there - I LOVE Games Workshop's old Chaos Serpentmen, and the Grenadier Snake priests from their old Cthulhu line are also favorites, but they just don't quite match up with the image I had in my head of what they were "supposed" to look like.

It wasn't until I started working with an artist that I realized that even *I* didn't have a perfectly clear idea of what that look was!

I also kept running into the problem that once you add arms and legs to a snake, it necessarily starts to look rather lizard-y...

So, we've kept the neck elongated & the head 100% snake-like.  The arms and shoulders are slender and almost feminine - too much bulk and they start to look lizard or dinosaur-like.  They're also enlongated a bit like a human with Marfan Syndrome.  The tail is extra long and tube-like, rather than vertically flat like a lizard's, and the legs... well, they look the way I want them to look!  :)

And there you go, a little insight into my process.

I really like the final design you have come up with on the snake men. They still look like snakes to me, even with the arms and legs.

Well done.

What he said.
Those are the first snake men I've seen that make sense as actual critters.
They look to be useful in so many ways and should paint up nicely.
I look forward to their being released, along with the priestess.
What will these go for when finally for sale?

Thanks!  I think that they'll be versatile figures, useful for many settings.

I'm not settled on price yet - it looks like this will have to be a 2 or possibly 3 part figure (the arm and weapon will have to be separate, and the tail *might* need to be separate).  That will affect the amount of time the sculptor will put into it & also the number of figures I can get per mold.

I expect he'll be under $10.

That's also the plan!

This guy is something of a 'proof of concept' figure, to get the look finalized and settled.  I expect to have an entire tribe of these guys done, including (hopefully!) some mounted figures.

That Teronus dragon is one of my all-time favorites. I may have to get in touch with Mr. Dennett for some dino-work.
