The thought occurs that you could buy those paper/PDF sampans and print them out as cutting guides for plastic sheet or something more durable than cardboard.

Mind you, printed card scenery can be surprisingly tough. I have a few pieces that have stood up to years of use!

Yes you can, infact my eldest daughter and I are in the middle of converting/making 4 of the Riveresco boats including the Fishing Trawler in the pictures that Bob posted. We shall add some pictures when the are finished.

Yes that second picture of vessels from Revireso is a paper model- with some metal components as well. John makes very nice card models, and they assemble very nicely. The biggest thing to remember is to take your time and let the glue dry!

I was thinking about doing that for the tramp steamer when the time comes for me to get one!

I bought this tugboat for a few euros at a flea market last Sunday.
(miniature for size)

I am thinking about removing the cabin and making a 28mm-compatible small cabin. However it seems that mini-tugboats were not often seen before the 1960s? Any thoughts for Pulp / RCW period etc?

Nice find.
Instead of a mini tug why not a steam launch?
Add some controls and seats or decking and you have a nice little boat to run around Pulp Harbor in. Just the thing for bringing the run ashore or slipping out to your waiting Uboat.

I remember that one from my childhood days. With the cabin attached to the deck it was useable for the little toys soldiers from like Airfix and with the cabin removed it was suitable for larger figure for example my rather un-succesfull band of sharkhunters. They all fell victim to a ferocious great white until i build a bigger boat.
However, to stay on topic i genuinely feel that the pulp section should have a dedicated maritime sub section although other sections could also do with some more maritime input. Some time ago i was ostracized on a Dutch forum for suggesting just that. I will follow this with great interest.

Thanks Amalric, I was doing image searches for "tugboat" but I had not thought of "launch boat".
Yes Legion1963 it appears to be an old Lehmann toy.

About topic. That's an idea. In fact the subject is quite similar to those in the "Railway Wargaming" section: mostly about 28mm-sized, and late 19th / first half of 20th century. Larger boats and warships fit in the forum section of their historical period, but there could be a topic or section for 28mm boats that can appear in a harbour or on a river for Colonial/Pulp/Back of Beyond/SCW/VBCW etc?

Hobby Lobby has a trawler that could be converted, but it's a bear to cut to waterline. :(

Here is a link to what little work I have done on it (yet another project unfinished because I don't need it right now) :-[

Hello all

Depending on the subject inside pulp, here is a boat i find usefull.
Revell ref-H387:100 Sport Fishing Boat.
It can be converted to some variations or leave as it is.
This is mine in progress.
Miniature is Artizan Thrilling Tales for size comparison.

Cheers

Rui

rumacara,

I like the look of that fishing boat, trawling eBay now (pun intended)!

I have this boat but have done nothing with it yet. I think it will need some work.

Hello all

That is also a nice boat.
With a little imagination we can d a lot of variations with that one.
A secret base patrol boat for example. :D

That´s i the pipeline to buy.

I've searched for it online
it was available for 10€ in 2006
http://www.modellversium.de/kit/artikel.php?id=1549
but today
http://www.amazon.de/Revell-50-Jahre-Jubil%C3%A4umsartikel-Fishing/dp/B000FCOK5Y

however, I've seen it appear on ebay occasionally for 20-30 $ but in the US only....
