French 46th Line Infantry at Waterloo
« on: March 17, 2014, 04:15:11 PM »
Hi, just finished a new Napoleonic battalion for my Waterloo project. This time the 1st battalion of the 46th Line infantry charging into British fire.

I needed to do a "Last Stand" entry for the Analogue Hobbies painting challenge and had a bunch of Perry metals lying around waiting for paint so I decided to use Napoleon's last dash for victory as the basis for my entry. Waterloo was in some way a Last Stand for Napoleon as his defeat there finally put an end to any hope of rebuilding his empire.

Mostly Perry metals with a few of their plastics thrown in. The colonel is from Warlord as is the eagle on the flag. Finally the flag is from GMB designs.

A few more pictures can be found from my blog for those more interested!  http://engineered-gaming.blogspot.fi/2014/03/painting-challenge-entry-16-46th-line.html

Great work. Now tell us about that casualty marker figure. The base looks very interesting :)

Bonjour Nysse,

I really like the look of these!

It's also great when a unit can be used but is also animated to diorama standard/

Brian - the bases are from:

http://war-bases.co.uk/ACCESSORIES/GAMING-AIDS

They are fantastic with a dial marked from 0 to 12.

I've recently painted 24 French, 24 Prussian and 18 British! 24 Russian ones at, and stuck, at the undercoating stage! Guess it shows I like them!

Will post some piccies if I can.

Cheers,

Paul

Thanks!

And yes the base is from warbases. Great little products (though protect the edges when applying sand on the base :D this one is making sad scratching sounds everytime I turn the dial). You can also get the dial bases in different sizes than those on the website. Just send them an e-mail and they'll send you the costs. I have a few larger ones to suit cavalry and bigger dioramas too.

Would be nice to see your minis too Paul :)

I just ordered some of those warbase casualty marker bases. Thanks for putting me onto them.
