15mm fantasy project and more (updated 30th March)
« on: March 23, 2014, 04:05:17 PM »
Greetings fellow painters!

After a long slumber I finally managed to start painting again. I am working on some miniatures to use with my RPG gaming group and I decided to go for 15mm for two main reasons:

- transportability;
- easiness to arrange encounters at greater starting distances, with no need for a huge playing area.

I had some Corvus Belli 100 years war archers sitting around and those are what I have started with.
They will probably be useful as bandits, militia, ranger types and so on. Anyway, enough chatter, here they are.

And a group shot:

Thanks for having a look! C&Cs are always welcome!

Those are excellent for 15mm.
It is really hard to get a great detail at this scale but you have done it.
No amount of planning will ever replace dumb luck.

Very nice paintwork. I've just finished some demonworld orcs for my 15mm fantasy project. Its a great scale once you  get into it.

Regardless of size your Band of Rogues are BEAUTIFULLY painted & based. When size is considered, they become WONDROUS to behold. VERY WELL DONE!

I would be impressed if they were 28mm...but at 15mm these are outstanding!

More please... :P

Cheers,

Time for a little update, a knight without livery.
He will be a bandit lord, a mercenary knight and stuff like that, but for the time being he's only "The red scabbard knight".

Another 15mm Corvus Belli, HYW range.

Front & back

Some orcs from the Demon World range are on the workbench right now.
I want to avoid classic green for their skin tone, thus I am experimenting a bit.

See you soon!

Always happy to see people getting into 15mm Fantasy, especially when they are painted as good as those.
Beautiful!

How did your orc experiments go?

I've just finished some very nice Splintered Light Orcs and opted for a tan skin colour, mindful that Tolkien described his orcs, or man-orcs, as "sallow skinned". I think tan works for me, and I've gone Bestial Brown for the Splintered Light goblins, but I'm always interested to see what other people, breaking the GW mold, opt for when painting Orcs.

Well, the first three orcs are almost finished. I have chosen a pale yellowish green - or pale greenish yellow  :D.
I am quite satisfied, it looks more "natural", if such an expression can be used for orcs. Photos soon!

I'm so damned impressed with the offerings in fantasy 15mm!  If I were not so DEEPLY invested in 28mm Otherworld minis's I'd switch over!  Imagine how epic the Dwarven Forge would look with 15mm minis instead of 28's???
