Legends of Old Mars

In this link you can find an adaptation of the new GW skirmish system (used in their new games like Lord of the Rings or Legends of the Old West) to play games in the red sands of Mars and save Dejah Thoris again from the clutches of evil.

I've found characterful their Code of Conduct special rule because it summarizes well the character that Burroughs gave to his Martians:

The Barsoomian fighting men follow a very strict code of conduct. Violating it is almost unheard of. The basic code is that a defender may only choose a weapon equal to or lesser than his attacker’s weapon. The hierarchy is: pistol, longsword, shortsword, dagger, bare hands. Therefore, if attacked by a warrior bearing a longsword, it is acceptable to draw any lesser weapon. Drawing a pistol in this situation would bring contempt or even death from any other warrior of Barsoom.

These rules were written by Rory Hinnen, a member of the HLSS group and a huge Warlord of Mars fan. They look like they would be a lot of fun and he did a great job covering all the Barsoomian races.

Pete used the same idea for duels in Gloire. It's a great rule for keeping the idea of honor in the game when players are out to win.

If you've read the Barsoom novels it is directly out of the first one. It makes a really great rule though.

It would be a perfect virtue/flaw for .45 Adventure/Gloire.
