Thanks Greg, makes a lot of sense. There is certainly some evidence for later use of the Thoracomachus padded garment under armour so it would ppoint to it being a fairly standard concept. I like that you have the courage of your convictions to go ahead and do the figures as you think they should be, rather than sticking to "wargamer received wisdom".

Always a gamble though - I've received some pretty interesting opinions on how Republican Romans should look. It's amazing how (myself included!) we as wargamers build up a repository of perceived wisdom as to how our figures should be sculpted. Hopefully we are not doing anything totally outrageous, just trying to rationally modify some of those per-conceived ideas. You'll see what I mean when I post some pics of our up-coming Carthaginians!!
