Got a copy of "No Hero" by Jonathan Wood which details the misadventures of an Oxford cop who stumbles upon a government organisation fighting a power which is very close to Lovecraft's view of the universe. Sounds very serious but the writer has an excellent turn of phrase and it's sometimes laugh out loud funny too. Worth a read IMHO.
