Franceso Gonzaga A LOAD MORE PICS ADDED 06/10/15
« on: April 15, 2014, 11:37:50 AM »
I thought that some of you might be interested in this vignette that I have been working personally between frenzied bouts painting for others of on of late.

It is the famous but doomed charge of Francesco II Gonzaga Marquis of Mantua against the nobility of France at the Battle of Fornovo 1495, that marked the beginning of The Italian Wars.

There are many more pics on my blog, but here is a taster just for now:

Thanks for taking a look and as I said, if you want to see more then take a peek at my blog:

Thanks for the comments everyone- much appreciated  8).

The water effect is just Vallejo Water Effects manipulated so it looks like a bit of a torrent. The 'splashing' effect is actually just some GW Snow I had left over and it just sort of hit me one day that it would make a great 'foam' for the river crossing! Until then I was quite stuck as to what to do!  :)

Darrell.

That really is a bit special, even by your usual high standards.

Lovely, thanks for sharing!

Yes, that was indeed the inspiration. A lovely inspiring piece of artwork as its the one with the Stradiots looking rather amused at Charles VIII porn stash!!  ;) ;) ;)

That one will be following at some stage but now it's down to getting the armies in order, most of which are ready to paint, but it's all about time when you paint for other folks too.

Darrell.
