badger games / mongrel miniatures
« on: April 30, 2014, 09:03:20 PM »
Has anyone successfully ordered these direct from the USA and got them posted to Europe?  I really want to get hold of these figures but it seems near impossible.  I have emailed but never got a reply.

Thanks

Are you referring to these models? This UK site carries models under the Mongrel Miniatures name that might be what you're looking for (sorry, I don't have a clue).

Sadly they have virtually nothing left.  It's cold war soviets, especially vdv that I'm after.

I managed to contact Ben Checota, the owner of Mongrel/Badger, last week.  He said he is planning to relaunch the modern miniatures line this July, or at least that is his goal.  I asked about existing stock.  He said there was none.

I think it qualifies you for some sort of award... many have tried to contact Mr Checota, few have succeeded.  lol

I'm sure he's well-meaning and truly intends to get the Mongrel ball rolling again some time, but he's been saying that for a while. It's frustrating for people out here who want to buy the figures and probably even more so for the folk who run Newline Design, who have had to deal with most of those people as his chosen retail outlet. The demand for the figures through them constantly outstripped his ability to supply them.

I have a platoon's worth of Mongrel Congo ANC/Mercenaries waiting for the Mongrel Simba's to reappear.  ::)

Shame I didn't collect the Israelis, then I could say "Next year in Jerusalem".  ;)

Interesting to hear, I tried to contact him via my role as sub-editor of a games magazine and through contacts in the States, the person who got through must be the 'Chosen One'.

I don't suppose anyone is sitting on a pile of IDF figures that they done't want? Cash and / or trade?

Does anyone else have a mental image of Mr Checota with a four foot long beard, eight inch fingernails, unwashed and clad only in a silk dressing gown occupying a whole floor of the Desert Inn in Las Vegas?  ;)

He's stockpiling them on the off chance of a large order from Lord Lucan.

Apparently, he was at Cold Wars as a vendor last year, so he had stick then. Must be a part-timer with a lot going in his 'real' job and life, been there myself so I understand, just hope he is able to get some out to vendors in July. Good luck to him, hope all is well and he can re-launch soon, I can't find any better 28mm Israelis any where else!

I didn't see him at Cold Wars last year, he was there a year or two previously.  Not in person though, it was one of his minions.
