I'll have to seek out a copy

James Barr's, "A line in the sand" is a first class general history of the region
Altogether and all of which make the basis of a fascinating campaign

not 100% related, but here is a great site about the balkans campaign that precedes the battle for Syria

You are welcome - also see in the WW2 board in the Vichy thread, where I posted a few links about the Levant army that connect chronologically after the battle for Syria in the 20ies

http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=66850.msg814706#msg814706

technically, this all would belong to the interwar board, it just happens that the whole story begins with the balkan campaign in WW1 and ends with the levant campaign in WW2, including a short trip to the Ukraine and a few oppressed revolts inbetween...

Funny how the themes in history appear to be the same all the time.... a time traveller would probably think: oh damn, they haven't made this work in 60 years ? ? ?  ;)

the sentence: "Europe has lived in peace for the last 60 years"  must read like a sad joke for three generations of Levantine people (not to mention the Balkans)....
