Hammers' scenes are getting more epic as the LPL goes on...  :o
I dread to think what he's got in store for Round 10... The entire Western Front perhaps?  ;)

Lovely blending on the dragons Uncle Mike. And their little glassy reptilian eyes... Brrr.... Creepy...  :)

I still don't know whether it should be "whalers". I mean, there are organised polar bears and an evil mastermind behind them.

And to add confusion, the file name is "Wales". Help. :o

Madness! Who can compete against Whales! That is something I didn't expect to see in anyone's collection...but now that I think of it, my kid has a good assortment of bath friends who could be pressed into service.   >:D I have my eye especially on that slightly large Orka toy. Tell the truth Hammers; did those whales begin life as toys for your children?  ;)

Another epic picture of the “Swedish Hammer”. Whales and polar bears! WOW! Truly fantastic. I also like the different clothes of the Inuit. :-*

The calf humpback whale  (Megaptera novaeangliae), harpooned by the remorseless eskimoes, was found abandoned on a playground in a rather pitiful conditions. It was sanded, modified (open mouth) and painted.

But yes, the mother humpback is a Schliess toy cut up in pieces to form a waterline school (or whatever the collective noun for whales is). I bought a Papo toy at first but it was too clunky in its detail so I haggled *forever* with Fivers (the senior young Hammer) to get his toy which he got several years ago. He drives a hard bargain: I was desperate so the deal was the Papo toy PLUS a new Schless model plus an evenings play access to the whole photo set as set up...

Sheesh...!

EDIT: the collectiv nouns for whales are gam, herd   ,mob   , pod apparently. You live and learn...

Very impressive, Hammers!

I really like that orange tone Mike, the large dragon in particular is really well done.

Thanks. It was quick and easy (not going to get any extra votes for the secret... :'() I sprayed them with the Army Painter 'Dragon Red' , I think it is called...) Then added progressively more orange to the same colour in their dropper bottle. Really a great product...I'm slowly buying them all up as they are so versatile. After the orange was built up in about three slightly sloppy drybrushes I added a bit of bone colour and highlighted the horns and teeth. Then gave it a generous (yet controlled) paint over with the Army Painter strong tone, again in a dropper bottle...and again a great product. And that was it really...paint and gloss varnish eyes and paint bases. Fast and easy, now to finish the 3d board... o_o o_o o_o

I cast a huge amount of Hirst arts tiles for a 3D board for Super Dungeon... and that's where I stopped.  lol
