Boats for Pulp Games
« on: May 13, 2014, 01:18:12 AM »
All,
Some discussions with Amalric got my juices flowing, so I spent a few hours over the weekend knocking together these boats.  Mind you, these are purely models for gaming, not scale models in any sense of the word.  Built with foam board for the bases, and poster board for the superstructure.
Flickr doesn't seem to want me to copy the images any longer, so here is a link to the page -

The models are an African river steam boat of  smaller sort, a speed boat for smuggling goods or people, a military patrol boat and an Arab Dhow. This last was actually built years ago, based on a template in the gone but not forgotten "Major General's Page"

The recently redesigned Flickr is a bit awkward, but you can share photos - use the little box-and-arrow icon on the righthand side.

Here's your photo of all four of your boats together:

Must say I like them, especially the larger white motor boat on the right.

I really must finish my motor yacht one of these years; the poor thing has been in progress for about five years now...

Very nice work on those boats. Amalric is certainly the one to look to for inspiration on Pulp boats. Wirelizard, I do like your motor yacht too.

Good looking boats. I especially like the speed boat, you wouldn't happen to have blueprints to share? :)

Blueprints???  Sorry, no.  I used a wooden toy boat to make the rough shapes and then worked from there.  However, the Dhow was from a template on the old Major General's Page which I believe still exists somewhere on the internet.
The white motor boat will ultimately be a naval vessel, with a light gun on the top deck and a couple lewis guns aft.
At present, the budget for gaming has dried up, and I am waiting to sell things!

Great looking boats.
They look perfect for gaming.
I look forward to seeing them in action.

Nice flotilla! I have dhows made from those very templates. They're easy to make and scale up if wished.
