A couple of ACW questions
« on: May 18, 2014, 03:52:06 AM »
Greetings all,

I'm just  starting to put together a force of 15mm Dammed Yankees for some ACW gaming.
Because this is a new period for me I'm wondering what rules to use and what basing conventions would be most universal.

I like the thought of the Longstreet rules as they seem to be fairly well reviewd but I've also heared good things about Regimental Fire & Fury. One consideration is Longstreet is easy for me to get my hands on where as RFF is difficult. Opinions would be welcome as well as recomendations for alternative rule sets.

Also... I have some figures painted and I'd like to base them. So, what would be the best way to base at this stage?
Below is a link to my blog. It's the place where I write uninteresting things about little toy soldiers. I do this because I refuse to grow up and behave like an adult.

For 15mm the norm is becoming 40mm frontage.

I will be basing all my 15mm napoleonics on 40mm x 30mm 1.5 ply/magnet bases.

I would say it depends on your opponents. I think 30x30mm, 40(wide)x30mm or 40x40mm are all possibilities.

I'm going 40x30mm for my FoG:N / Lasalle as it looks good.

If I were to do an ACW army in 15mm I woulld also do 40x30mm as I know Osprey will eventually release a FoG:ACW edition that all the kids will play.
