A question regarding street props...
« on: July 17, 2008, 10:00:21 AM »
How tall should a street lamp-post be to fit 28 mm scale mines? 12 cm? 16 cm?
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

All the "Victorian" ones I've seen in a few UK cities are rather short. Certainly a lot shorter than modern day versions - but then again I'm not sure how many [if any] were genuine  ???

The tallest one in this set of repros is 11 ft

So, at a rough guess if you go for 50-60mm you probably won't be too far out. Maybe you could even get away with OO model railway lights, judging by the relatively short one 2nd from the left, which I'd guess was about 7-8ft tall.

I'm sure Malamute will have the definitive answer, though  ;)

 lol lol

Yes Gluteus is absolutely correct they are very short by current standards. Here is a pic with the ones I use. They are not far off the correct height and as my friend says they are OO scale.

You can get them here:

Som something like this (with a more victorian feel to it) would not be totally strange..?

They look ok, check out the Langley models link from above as they have working low voltage lamsp too.

Thinking about it, they can't be huge or the lamplighter would have problems lighting them.

Fighting 15's stock the Eureka figures here in the UK. I got mine from them. I can't remember how much she cost, but it wasn't expensive.
