Signs from Print Outs
« on: May 27, 2014, 06:08:14 PM »
I've been playing about with decals with varying levels of success, but I decided I'd use an old technique to make a sign like this:

Not sure if I've mentioned it before, or if everyone just knows about it, but it bears repeating I think.

Just take a standard inklet print out, cut it to size and also cut a piece of plasticard to the same size. Use liquid cement, like plastiweld, to glue the print out to the piece of plastic. Allow this to dry completely them add some more to the print side of the sign. This, for a reason I don't know, makes the whole thing waterproof and away you go.

I need to print some Ministry of Information posters.
Any particular sort of paper?
And how is the last layer of glue best applied?
Thanks.

Standard paper, and just paint it on with a brush.

Did this with my zombie board a few years back:

Used Left for dead screengrabs. I used spray mount glue. Works a treat.
Now water can flow....or water can crash...be water my friend.

Here u go buried in the depths if the thread (page 12 ish ):

Very quick update: (got a 5:30am start!!!!).

Signs and Potents!

Take:

Selection of warning sign images from the internet, (and a few screen grabs from Left for Dead).

Add:

Very thin plasticard, (one side sprayed grey, (like sign backs) one side sprayed black.
3M spray mount glue.
Sharp scapel
Good scissors (no running kids!)
fine sandpaper

Result:

Some great signs to add more depth to the urban zombie board!

Enjoy.

The Commander.

very clever use of the capillary action, plastic and the glue that dissolves the plastic!

THX for the idea!

Yeah but I don't tend to play games submerged so spraymount works well. ;)

Well I'm closer to the coast.  :P

If you want to weather it, varnish it etc...
