No. 20 - Horatio Herbert Kitchener

Herbert Kitchener having an early morning cup of Darjeeling before his full and frank exchange of views with Captain Marchand over the French laying claim to Fashoda.

Perhaps I need to do Captain Marchand next….

Managed to get one in...

No. 21 - 'Because we're 'ere, lad...'  Private, 2/24th Foot, Zululand, January 1879

Empress Miniatures, sculpted by Mr Hicks.

I have a whole box of these lads to paint at some point, but shall refrain from clogging up the expedition with the heroes of Rorke's Drift...  ;)

One or two other, different chaps may join the expedition near the tail end though. Time and mosquito nets permitting...

I hope this counts as colonial.

No 22 Quilted John

Spurned by his lover who left him for Major Gordon, our hero Captain John finds himself up the Sutlej during the Sikh wars.
Anyway he thinks Gordon is a moron.
If you don't get the joke you weren't a teenager in seventies Britain lol, l'll get my coat....

I was a teenager in 80s Britain, but I still remember Jilted John. I cried all the way to the chip shop. ;D

I have a particular fondness for his alter ego John Shuttleworth's song about the Hale-Bopp comet, as while it was around it use to guide me home from the pub like some kind of bizarre alcoholic's nativity story. It pointed right to my house when you were stood outside the pub. Damn handy.

Of course he counts as colonial, and it's always nice to see something a little away from the main road.  Great job. What make is that figure? I don't recognise it.

Managed to get one in...

Bloody lovely. But anything less from you would be cause for a riot. It is expected these days.  :)

Me too, but without the guiding star.
Unfortunately......

Will they be heading off to Mars once they have tidied things up in Southern Africa?
 ;)

Plynkes it's a Studio miniatures British officer from their Sikh war kick starter. Painted him yesterday for this topic. It's a great idea to influence people to get characters done well done. I have large chunks of the 70's and 80's missing from my memory due to alcohol but I always seemed to find my way home on auto pilot, real light weight these days though, can't handle the next day unfortunately lol.

Ah yes, should've known that. They've been churning out quite a bit of Sikh Wars stuff lately. Must have slipped my mind.

Pretty sure they're Perry Sudan old chap - I only know because I have one of my own:

A lovely piece nonetheless - great to see some firepower on the expedition!
