Citadel Judge Dredd Project
« on: June 04, 2014, 12:12:39 PM »
Well it seems I'm back into the swing of things painting wise despite the ongoing eye problems. So today I like to show you how far I've come with the painting of the Judge Dredd project.

Once again poor pictures, but what's new there from me eh?

Angel Gang

Fink and Junior

Mean, Link & Pa

Judges: Paton, Dredd, Anderson & Reed

Patton & Anderson

Dredd & Reed

Judge Child

Even though there are some weird proportions in there, this JD range brings back fond memories.
I keep considering getting some of them.

Yeah the proportions and scale is rather varied and random, but they are indeed a joy to paint. Stand a J D1 Dredd next to the JD7 Later release Dredd and one is almost twice the size of the other.

So much so I'm using a JD1 Dredd as a Cadet Judge.

Isn't photography frustrating?  It's so hard to get a good photo of something 2 cm tall.

... butI think we'd all like to get a better look at your painting skills and your cool collection :)

You don't need this:

You really just need something like this:

A desk lamp with a "daylight" spectrum bulb (like GE "Reveal") will give you truer colours than regular bulb, and avoid using just real daylight... it's way too directional :(  Position the lamp above and behind your camera, not pointing directly at the figures.  It should give you only vague shadows, and better colours.

Heh no amount of mucking around with  a nice photo set up will changethe fact I'm running with a cheap ass point and click camera I'm afraid. Half the time the Macro setting doesn't even work heh.

Anyway enough of the photo talk, until I get a better cam nothing will change. And I don't foresee that happening for alittle while sadly.

I've a decent camera and one of those home studio rigs - when we finally get to catch up I'd be happy to do some pics of your stuff mate - and I need to collect those figures from you still  lol

So I havn't been painting much dew to my eye still being fecked up and I also had some work done on my Tattoo sleeve on my right forearm which also limits to much.

But I have finished the following:

Mutie Militia Jobe and Max

Mutie Militia  is my own little bit of non-cannon Fluff, led by Hiccup Angel (Brother of Pa Angel) they rampage though what is left of the Cursed Earth looting and acting like they know what their are doing.

I like that.

Would that be 'Wild Bill' Hiccup, by any chance....?

Excellent work there. Love the mutie militia.  :D

Re: photos. I've started using a black background for photos now, and although they're still not proffessional quality, they are still much better than I was doing before.
I use the back of a scrabble board propped up in a right angle. I'd recommend giving it a try.
