Jus' sayin' hello
« on: July 22, 2008, 08:12:30 PM »
Hello,

Just a few of my latest VSF models to help introduce myself, as it were:

And before you say anything, yes, I'm fully aware the tracks are glued on upside down. I've now fixed that problem...

Figures are Ironclad Minis and the tank I bought from Ground Zero Games. Though I'm sure you already knew that.

I bought these models recently and without much thought, as most of my other Victorian stuff is 1880's onwards (so no Prussians). Though I suppose in an army of steam-men, Zeppelins and steam tanks not many people will notice the historical inaccuracies...

I told you so. You damned fools.

A sure sign that a quick dry brush can look good....

Thanks!

Yeah, I was tempted to just leave the automatons with a single boltgun metal drybrush, but in the end I decided on a few more details, and I think they look much better for it.

Now all I need is a ruleset...

   Hello,
A good start there, with VSF you don't have to be historically correct. I've used the same tank for my London bobbies firing Indian rubber cannon balls lol.  Now i'm sure they didn't think of that back then. So get some Prussians, everyone needs Prussians. lol

Cheers

I've used the same tank but with four GW sentinal legs as Royal Navy "Steam Stallion" Recon Striders. It seems to get around  ;)

As for Prussians......... yeah, everyone needs some Prussian troops.
So many projects..... so little time.......

Righteous work you have there!

Good piccys too.

Welcome to the forum.

I doan see anything the matter with the tank, 'cept the hull is on upside down. ;)

Welcome!! Good to see another VSFer on board.

Dont worry about the historical bit, as long as there's even a tenuous historical link you'll get away with it. A couple of us are running a mini Prussian invasion of England and that's set in 1881, way after Germany was historically formed.

Ignore Fritzy about more Prussians, recruit for the Queen (Gawd bless 'er), England expects!!  ;)

I like those Ironclad Automatons as they are quite generic, I use mine as armoured suits on the flanks of British infantry units.

Keep up the good work and get inventing!!

That's where I started, with these:

I've got roughly 30 Perry Sudan British, plus the steam tank.

As for 'inventing', how's this?:

My as yet unfinished (need to add propellers) airship. Hand crafted out of a copy of the evening standard. Plus some other things. As you can see, in order to finance such a project, I've had to strike a few advertising deals...

Thanks for all the replies!

You must tell how you made that airship, my Germans in Africa need one.  Great pics, by the way.

Admire the airship. I reckon you will post your finished product?

Good job on the naval and army figs. Super!

Landships for the win!

Sorry, couldn't resist the comment on the first landship. Heh. :)

-2 one litre lemonade bottles, cut off the ends and insert one into the other
-Cover the whole thing in Paper Mache (3+ layers)
-Gondola constructed out of a quarter of a Bran flakes packet and a smarties, err, block (What ever happened to tubes?)
-Tail fins out of flaps on said Bran flakes packet, supported by balsa wood
-Decorated with more card for windows and various model parts from my bits box
I'd advise looking into better materials than Paper Mache though, it's rather annoying to use...

I was originally going to add ribs, but I think I'll drop that idea, as that could involve spending money on it...

Of course I will, just for you.  :D

Thanks for all replies.

Great looking collection.

Who needs Prussians - There are too many of them around already ;)
