Ayup, we're playtesting Associates for our next Pulp Alley book -- Vice Alley.

The rules are still subject to change, but basically they are intended to represent characters that work behind the scenes to support your league -- rather than appearing in the scenarios. They could be someone such as a butler, secretary, mechanic, attorney, mentor, nightclub singer, newspaper boy, and so on.

They only cost 1 slot, but its important to note that they won't always contribute a bonus.

This is a great concept.

I just love having more standalong things that cost one point. They're great for fine-tuning a league and give you more flavourful options besides just "add another ally". I will probably annoy you for some of the playtest rules later, Dave.

So far the basic rules for them have not changed much from Playtest Pack #3, but about half of their bonuses have been changed.
