Yo!

Just a quick "Inter-Project", to catch some air before finishing that Strelkovy Company and that damn Monolith, an "Armoured Trooper VOTOMs" kit (1/60th scale, Wave, 1990s vintage) converted to a Heavy Gear-style mecha for 25mm S&F.

Work in Progress:

The green areas are the original parts, white is plastic strip and rod.

Finished model, with Ground Zero Games´ NAC NCO for scale:

The mecha is based on a 50mm steel washer.

@Drunken Samurai and Knoxville:

They are pretty hard to come by here in Germany, but might be easier in the UK. Most interesting, the original VOTOMs franchise, although being more than 20 years old by now, is still supported by Japanese manufacturers, either by reruns of the plastic kits or by garage kit lines (I recall seing various 1/60th scale, high detail white metal kits in various japanese model magazines over the last years.

I just checked with Comet Miniatures (who had a truckload of the smaller kits when I last visited in 1998), who, sadly (?), only seem to have some stock of the larger kits (1/24th and 1/35th scales), but at incredible prices... hilarious! If they only still stocked 1/48th and 1/60th scale kits! Argh!

I´ve finished construction of the second gear, turning him into a "Baby Snakeeye", ie a Light Gear armed with Particle Accelerator. Pictures tomorrow... errr... today, sometime around 10 o´clock.

Is that Bayport, Maine, or Bayport, California? The former would indeed be interesting... New England over West Coast, anytime.

It's actually Maryland, so better than the west coast but not as good as New England.

Maryland is fine for me! No wonder, with such a big country, there must be at least as many "Bayports" as there are "Springfields"... :D

Bayport is what I call my pulp version of Baltimore.

Baltimore is way more awesome than New England! Who needs rocky, beautiful coastline and fall leaves when you can have crazy accents (Baltimorese was rated as America's worst-sounding accent) and crime?

Back to the matter at hand: More pix plz.  :)

It has got two rather wide rollers at the heels, but they are only poorly visible - my bad, sorry. Wait - no, no, it´s supposed to be like that, yes, that´s it! They are retracted to avoid damage while walking!

Well then, as well to post them here: I´ve scratched a Mammoth Strider (ie, a gear´s big and lumbering brother) from, well, a lot of stuff. See the pics, I´ll happily answer specific questions.

Cheerio!

   When are you selling resin copies of the Strider??

You must do this. God wants it.

Edit: God made me forget IP laws.

   The Lord Almighty has a lot of work to do these days, methinks!

But since you mention it: given my experience with my Amtrac, I´m scared stiff at having to make a mold of this model... :D Why don´t you pester DP9/Fusion Models to make some in 1:56th or 1:48th scale? Their 35-Kodiak was mighty nifty.
