Okay, I have a feeling I'm going to regret asking this, but please explain the above reference.  Different culture and background... is it a reference to a line from a book or is it a common English expression/phrase?

Ni is most common. But they converted...
“We are no longer the knights who say Ni! We are now the knights who say ekki-ekki-ekki-pitang-zoom-boing!”
Still had a shrubbery fetish though 

My absolute favourite is the Terry Gilliam definition of Medieval kingship
