Some lovely painting, modelling, and world building in this thread! Very inspiring. I'm going through all these pages from the beginning!

Thanks everyone! A quick update today with a few 'ordinary' Tech gangers to add to the existing gang. These are pretty much stock figures as available in 1991, with the metal bodies mated with plastic arms and guns. I did a little bit of carving to get the arms to fit closer to the bodies, and repositioned pretty much every wrist to line them up better.

I went with the classic long-barrelled Rogue Trader lasguns as opposed to the shorter-barrelled ones I've used on the earlier gangers as an in-game distinction between lasguns and lascarbines. Plus I'm still rather fond of the long-barrelled ones!

More words and pics over at my blog.

Lovely stuff!

Techs = coolest of the confrontation gangs? I (probably) think so.

Yes, the Techs are definately the coolest gang. Love the raybans and Doc Martens.  8)

Works really well with the white overalls.

I remember wrangling with those plastic arm/metal body combinations on the old Imperial Guard figures. You've done a great job getting them to look natural. Painting is great, too!  :-*

More lovely paintjobs. You're giving me really unrealistic expectations of how good some of the goofier oldhammer minis would look if I attempted a similar rescue!

A final Tech to get the Data Kings ready for a new campaign in a week's time - this time some heavy firepower with his plasma cannon:

He's another Citadel Tech with a Rogue Trader conversion beamer standing in for his big gun.

I've also painted up some space cowboys for a dimensional shift game of Dracula's America (in space):

These guys are a small Dark Confederacy posse, comprised of some Rogue Trader Imperial Guard with head swaps (and added facial hair). The revenant is a classic Citadel Zombie - my favourite from the range.

Love the DAiS idea - I’m aleays keen on the idea of reskinning rules, and this seems like a great candidate. I’ve been revisiting your blog a lot recently - I’m on a 28mm Rogue Trader-ish kick, and your stuff is a major inspiration.

I particularly like those imperial army conversions - early guardsmen were the best (though I’ve got a soft spot for the original metal Cadians).

I agree, I'd much rather use a slick ruleset across settings than use a clunky genre specific ruleset. As long as it's Rogue Trader ish :)

I like the early Guard too, although my preference is for the ones in fatigues to the skinny-legged oddball first releases.
