Sorry to resurrect this thread!

I've went and ditched my Perry models in  favour of Artizan  8th Army. I'm planning on painting a batch of these up fairly quickly (for me anyway) does anyone know of what colour of spray paint suits these best? I can get the small 150mm Humbrol acrylics easy enough. I'm just looking for the right base.

I've also managed to pick up some cheap polystyrene that I'll use to make a quick desert board. ;)

Good choice!

I'm not a fan of the perry stuff I must admit.

So I've started a cheap wee board for this. The plan is to have a 4x4ft desert board. I've picked up some cardboard backed polystyrene from work. They came as packing with some camera equipment. I may need to buy some mdf and stuck it down to that to give it a bit of weight!

So after some attacking with a knife and some sandpaper, I added some sand and gravel, painted it and ended up with this. This is the first and they'll be 3 more.....

With some added grass tufts.....

I've also based my first squad of Artizan figs. The guy underneath is one of the Perrys I tried to paint! I'm not sure about the colours!!

At the risk of and not meaning to cause offense(and do have a habbit of putting my foot in it)As nice as your work is,I find the project in the back ground looks very interesting(mainly because I've no idea what it is lol)
I'll take on board your views on the Perry's plastic's,which will save me money at Salute. As they were going to be the basis of my LRDG.but now I think I'll just do it the hard way.
I do like the use of colour in the boards really emotive, not the standard two tone sanded boards.I would go as far as to say better than any colour choice I've seen on display games this year.

The bits in the back, Mark, are from aloooong ago forgot 40K Apocalypse project. The white thing was supposed to be one side of a broken bridge (loosely based on the Brooklyn Bridge). I also had a bit (that did get finished) that was supposed to be based on the Arc De Triomphe.

Now much as I like what you've done with a bit a Pva'd board and some sand.I can't help but think you might just have shelved the wrong project. lol
This deserves a little tlc,and its own 40k topic(because if you've no need for it finished or not it will find a new home.and fund the 8th army project)
Thanks for posting the picture's I'm really glad I asked.
Mark.

If you want the Arc de Triomphe piece, you can make me an offer if you want? ;) If you need better pics I'll dig it out.

The bridge bit would take alot of work to finish and I could do it MUCH better now a days!

That's the board now finished and ready to play on! Just my Artizan figures to paint, 2 Universal Carriers (Tamiya) to build and paint and hopefully(ebay willing) a staff car to do.
