The first two look pretty cool. Not sure on the third. It's not got the same vibe to it.

Some interesting ideas.  I'd lose the yin-yang symbol on the first guy.  It really pulls me out of the fantastical setting you're trying to portray.  I think the same thing when random space-games involve stuff like Samurai or blatant links to Earth culture as we know it.  The others look a bit Rogue Trooper for sure --- I like the diving helmet look on the third guy.

Does nothing for me but then they aren't designed for me.    ;)  Enjoy.

How does the "Dorf" use the goggles under the helmet?  That really breaks the suspense of disbelief for me personally.

There are some aspects of the design I don't understand but these are drawings - is that his beard coming out through the "mouth" looking feature on the suit?  My first thought was he was throwing up...

The (?) back pack thing in the first image looks like he is carrying Oscar the Grouch into combat/space (an evil R2D2?)

Edit:  The bigger the "codpieces" (pictures two and three) the less believable the pictures become.

Gracias,

Glenn

Cheers for the feedback,

A couple of things to bear in mind are these are just concepts the idea was just to throw random ideas we liked on a piece of paper and see what sticks so these are a  amalgamation of everything.

I agree, not a fan of the random bits either.

Diving Helmet will most likly go (As with all the helmets)

It's Goggles or Helmet, picture was showing possible ideas. I've already spoke to the artist about loosing the Helmets.

It's a Japanese Style demon mask, but rather then a tongue out of the month its a beard.

Thanks for clearing that up; I thought it was a fire-breathing mask...  lol

I gather I'm a voice of one about the helmets. I hoped you might go for head swap options.

Keep us, well, me, informed of updates.  ;)

Another Concept, once again comments welcome:

Idea is a really old Dorf who's grown so fat he is suspended by this great winch on tracks behind him. He has a pet rat called Fenlok who is his only trusted advisor.

Some good feedback so far.  I think gramps is pretty hilarious, if not practical  lol.  It seems you are aiming for a more light-hearted range in the vein of earlier editions of 40k?  I think you have nailed the old school feel pretty well, though I agree some of the things like the yin-yang could go.

I don't mind the helmets, and I like the dive helmet, actually.  However, if your aim is for little bearded guys, the helmet will definitely get in the way of transferring that esthetic.  Being a fan of some of the older fantasy orcs and empire ranges, I say the codpieces work just fine.

That being said, I don't do much scifi, so my input may not be as useful.

Aye read the range as wacky/funny/quirky/Punk to be used to in any Sci-fi gaming system so won't relate that well to the grimdark that is 40k really. As the range isn't set in any perticur system or fluff I can get away with more randomness.

First and foremost this range is for myself rather then a gap in the market.

There is of course that Steampunk/VSF feel to them which I feel is a good but not over the top.

So progress continues with my Evil Space Dorf range sculpted by Geoff of Oakbound Games.

Here's some WIP Greens:

From Geoff:

There's some tightening up to do. The weapons aren't finished, the boots need some work, there are some more cables and greeblies to add.

So comments welcome.

shaping up nicely. he's right about the boots - each foot at the moment looks like it trod in something - with the heel sticking over the back.
