At last the first Goth warband is complete, if you follow Dave's blog you will see that we have gone over to Impetus style bases for our Ancient games, I have added a Minibits dice frame to the base to show bases loss when we use the Neil Thomas rules. I like that you can tell a bit of story on big bases, note the timid chappie lurking behind the standard bearer. There is a pic of my rebased Romans on my blog.

Love these and also a big fan of the NT rules, which I have amended a fair bit for the Roman period.

My romans and barbarians are on similar bases to yours, mines being 100x50 also with dice frames. In addition to this I use Roman numeral dice just to add a little extra flavour.

I'm about to do the same thing with Persians, Macedonians and Successors.

Great figs and a great set of simple but effective rules.

Love them and have done the same for my Saxon's, Vikings and now my Greeks- eventually the same will happen to my late romans as well.

out of interest what are the Neil Thomas rules you are referring to?

Lovely Phil.
I do love the Musketeer Footsore minis.

I have a number of Goths incorporated into both my Early Saxon and Late Roman / Arthurian forces.
Goths are so versatile, and the great beauty of these ranges and this period is that (by picking a different shaped shield) many of the figures are pretty much interchangeable  :)

Thanks for the comments folks.

Yes Richard, conversely I have some Saxons left from my Dux Brit force, so these will be incorporated with my Goth army.

I have completed my Equites Alares unit at last, figures are from A&A Miniatures, the Victory is from Aventine Miniatures. The idea for the vexillum is unashamedly nicked from Redzed.

Very nicely done. Great balance of muted and vivid colours. 8) And those decals are priceless, aren't they? Also like the idea of the Victoria standard – maybe you could add some flying bands (here's an example) to emphasise the unit's movement? Just an idea.
