Americans (and stealling Pappa's ideas)
« on: August 11, 2008, 05:19:38 PM »
Big picture, but since for once you can actually almost make out something...

Latest finished figs, flanked by the now based MaK's I did the other day.
The gasmasked grunts are SOTR (with a slight conversion of the helmet peak as to better match the ones from other manufacturers) and the GI robot is from Darkson Designs. I tried to continue the scheme of the MaK's on the robot with the white stripes.

More grunts:
Eureka - BAM - SOTR

I really stole Pappa Midnight's painting ideas for the MaK's and may have overdone the rust (it's easy to get carried away), but I like the result. The one on the left is using the head of a BAM mini, the other one uses a SOTR german head.

me either  :(
They were all drawn to the Keep; the soldiers who brought death; the father and daughter fighting for life; the people who have always feared it; and the one man who knows its secret....

Tried to open them in a new window and it says server not responding. Could be problems on that end.

Hmmm... I can see the pics just fine...?

Excellent stuff WK!!! I love the way the colours bring them all together.
As I said on SOTR, the rust looks great.....nice and well worn!

BTW: "Stealing" ideas, Huh!!! I've never done that before...................... lol lol lol

Must have been a temporary problem with the server.

@ Pappa: Cheers (though it's really all your ideas). For the rust, I worked in two layers: first a chocolate brown and then an orangish brown called "rat brown" (I think from Coat d'Arms). I also cheated to speed it up and used a stiff flat brush with not too much paint on to get the small rust lines.

By the way, I do know that "stealing" is with one "l". It's a typo.

Hey white knight, I place an order with my wife for my Birthday this August 31 (About 10 mechs), I can't wait to play with these models! I'm also going to paint them up as US Allies...
What rules are you going to use with them?

Well, I have a copy of SOTR, AE-WW2 and BGWW2, so ideally would try all three rulesets.
Both SOTR and AE-WW2 have similar sized mechs in the rules, so it's easy to use them instead of the official models.

As far as increasingly bad pictures go, I'm making progress. :-[ Still, three more figs completed as well as two more robot GI's awaiting completion of the bases.
The girl is a Eureka dog face GI, the other two are westwind.
