Well Fantasy Flight Games are going all-out on Star Wars boardgames:

Linked scenariod in Campaign Mode, but there's a straight-up skirmish mode too.

Bet there will be about a million expansion packs for this...

Could be - they'll be "boardgame" plastic, I suspect, but even those minis are good these days.

$100/£70 is the RRP - looks like it comes with FFG's trademark pile of cards and counters too  :)

Yep, looks good. Also ally and villain packs to add on to it sound pretty cool. The ATST looks cool :)

It should be in FFG's usual 28mm-ish scale; that means, it's between 28mm and 25mm, with realistic proportions and in bendy plastic, but pre-glued multi-part for larger figures and great detail. These are not "Heroic Scale" so they look rather slight next to the usual stuff that's out there.

I'll just report my own thread OP and let this other one be closed.

Just came upon this quite amazing piece of news on TMP.

Fantasy Flight Games is developing a Star Wars game with similar mechanics to Descent and Doom: The Board Game. One player controls the Imperial Forces and up to four others play totgether as the Rebels with distinct characters. The game features the usual FFG mix of highly detailed 28mm-ish miniatures of Stormtroopers, Krayt Dragons, Wookie Warriors, and even huge 3x2 AT-STs! The game is set immediately after the second Death Star's destruction and the board game tiles depict the forests of Endor as well as base interiors.

There is a story-driven campaign mode where both Rebels and Imperials can enhance their forces, and also a skirmish mode where two players field combat teams in seperate scenarios. The main game has two extra packs including which contains miniatures and rules for Luke skywalker and Darth Vader (however he is still alive, I have no idea ;) ) and also new scenarios.

Phew! I'm not that big of a SW fans but I'm still rather excited and I wonder how much the Force will feature. I assume that the game will be a smash hit and many expansions will follow. Go FFG! :)

well Miniaturewise i'm sorted with all my Knight Models/Wizkid Stuff  o_o Very nice looking Miniatures nonetheless, though a rather crude Mix of Personalities methinks,i hate everything from the Mannequin Skywalker Films, hope that Tiger/Beast Thingie is optional  >:D

I think it's a reference to the prequels.

I still have hundreds of the WotC figures, but I bought collections on eBay and snapped up a lot of bargain characters.  I'm missing things like speeder bikes that were rare and went for silly prices at auction.  So it's nice to see heavy blasters and probots in the base set.

I think FFG see 28mm as having crossover potential with minis games.  Battlelore 2 went to that scale with the minis last year after the original game was closer to 20mm.

So yeah, I have high hopes!

They're also pretty good with the expansion pack schedule for other games.  Descent 2, on which they have explicity based this game, has a good range of campaign sets, generic expansions and individual bad guys.
