Looking for manufacturer of plastic surf
« on: August 23, 2014, 09:38:13 PM »
Does anyone know who made/makes this piece of plastic toy surf or what the name of the toy is that it was originally part of?   I got it at the swap meet a few weeks ago.   It is 12 incles long;  I have included in the picture a Foundry 28mm figure for additional scale.  When I found it, it was in a huge pile of other broken toys and I have no idea who manufactured it.  I would love to get a few more pieces to use along the beach of my cannibal/treasure island.   I’d appreciate any help you can offer in discovering who the maker is.  Thank you.  Richard

Looks like something from Ice Age? Disney movie.

Poiter50, thanks for the idea.  I just checked ebay and amazon for what they had related to Disney Ice Age toys… no luck.  But I do appreciate the help.  Richard

Could be from a Lilo and Stitch Disney set  - there was surfing in the movie.

Thanks Gollad.  Lilo and Stitch makes a lot of sense.  I check ebay and amazon and found nothing close, but the Lilo and Stitch idea is worth following and I will.  If anyone comes up with a toy name, manufacturer name or another idea of the toy's original, please let me know. Richard

Doesn't look too difficult to scratch a piece like that one and what about silicon moulding it?

Svenn, casting it may well be what I'll have to do, but I just thought that the best place to start was finding out more about where it came from in the hope that I could pick a few up at less cost and trouble than going through the moulding and casting process.  If I did cast it, it would probably be in resin and that wouldn't be cheap.

Was it at a church swapmeet? The verticalness on one side and straight line form makes me think of Moses parting the red sea.

Are there any manufacturers marks, codes or details on the inside?  They may give you a clue or narrow it down for you.

It has something of the McDonald's Happy Meal about it, but is it too big?

No maker's marks or dates of any kind.  I believe those must have been located on the pieces that attached to both ends.  I have never seen those.  When I picked this up it was as you see it but based on the slots at both ends I am sure things were originally attached at both ends.
