Sources for 1/1200 ships?

Hi,

 I started doing 1/1200 models because I got a batch of the inexpensive Revell kits like this Duke of York I did:



 The Revell selection is really shallow and doesn't include any smaller ships. I got the Airfix Bismarck set, which seems to be pretty much a one-off... haven't done anything with it yet, but it does contain some useful ships.

 Then I bought a batch of ships off eBay. They were used and rather badly painted, I think they are all from MY Models. I stripped and repainted them:



 I actually quite liked painting these (usually I do 1/3000 for ships) and I thought this would be a good scale to do destroyer and maybe cruiser actions. I thought I'd do the battle of Narvik, but unfortunately the MY range is far from complete and e.g. seems to completely miss the earlier (pre-Tribal) British destroyer classes.

 Anyone know any other 1/1200 scale ranges?

There is a huge market in 1200/1250 ships, but a lot of it is very expensive....

Unfortunately the site was last updated in 2010 and that seems to plague the retailers as well. If their sites are up at all, at least waterlinemodels.co.uk seems to have gone the way of the dodo...

Looks like this is the promised land of prepaints, which partly explains the steep prices for some of the offerings -- where prices are shown at all. And curiously very US-German bent...

hello,
the spidernavy ships are sold rigged and painted - they are very expensive - around 100 - 150 euros.
But they are all Neptun-Navis ships - and these models have a very good quality by itself.
I bought some japaneese carriers -Akagi, Kaga etc. and I want to rigg and paint them by my own.
Fantastic is the Tsushima rang - too.
You will find a lot of this ships on ebay - wordwide - 1/1250 neptun !

I figured 1/1200 would look better in small actions with a few ships. Personally I'm not that much of a fleet action man anyway.

I'm still pondering whether I should base my ships, though. I might make do without, but none of my regular gaming partners will be able identify any of the ships without a bit of help. Maybe I should do something like I did for my 1/3000 models:



All of the destroyers and even most of the cruisers would fit on 1" wide strips. Leave a little bit of space at the tail end and a name tag could fit there.
