Nice transformation. If the angel hadn't been stolen you could also get out a statue from the original too.
Thanks!
Not a bad idea, but she scaled up so well with my daughter's Frozen figures that I had to give it to her. Luckily I've got a pile of statues from the Harry Potter Wizard's Chess set.  Assuming I ever get around to painting them...

Looking back, I realize that if I was willing to limit the building to one genre I could have put a miniature on the peg the Angel was attached to and it would have popped out of the chapel on the hour!

No regrets though, I like that it's as useable in fantasy as modern, post apoc or sci-fi.

An very practical update this time.
As followers of this thread will know, in the past I've built a train...
https://www.chicagoskirmishwargames.com/blog/2016/11/21/sci-fi-train-finished/

...and an elevated station.
https://www.chicagoskirmishwargames.com/blog/2014/09/02/terrain-triptych-part-3-elevated-train/

Today I give you the the trestles. Made 8 of these

One of these

..and one that is also a sci-fi power station converted from an emergency dispatcher toy, but you'll have to visit the blog post to see it!
https://www.chicagoskirmishwargames.com/blog/2017/03/10/adepticon-prep-part-3-ten-train-trestles/

The 4th prep post will be coming this week and is a grander and somewhat more industrial/freight themed version of the first train station.

Enjoy!

And here's the big one!

This one is far more complete that the previous one, having the arched upper frame, Freight conveyer, lower decks and other parts that give it a much more substantial look.

Went a bit sci-fi/cyberpunk on this one also by adding some Mantic Battlezone panels.

Lots more pictures (pre and post paint) and construction notes here:

With a Train, two stations and 10 trestles, I've got a complete train line that will stretch across an 8 foot table, but you'll have to wait for my adepticon game coverage to see it in action.

Coming later this week is the 5th and last Adepticon Prep post.  4 Helicopters, two of which are a tribute to a local helicopter company.

Holy cow! Great work Karl. This has been a years-long labor of love for you. I hope to see this setup in person one day.

So, so awesome!  :o
And HUGE!

What a lot of work to paint such huge things. It looks VERY good.

Your ideas and skill to find good parts and toys are great. You inspired me and gave me good hints. After using the power chargers i just bought a jungle cutter from UK. I already have so much stuff to work with, but this thing is (nearly out of the box) just a "strike". :)
Thanks a lot for the idea!

After one year of a model making break (to much PC gaming and unsuccessfully writing a rulebook from time to time) i want to start again on modelling/painting stuff for my table and game soon. I am missing the Hobby realy bad!

Please keep on.

Greetings from Germany,
Jan

Thanks Suber and Deano!
Glad you guys liked it.

Pat,
It has been a long time.  You were there at the beginning, but hopefully you'll be able to see the end result someday.

Jan,
Great to hear from you again.  I recall thinking a couple months ago that I hadn't seen much from you and I'm glad you're getting back on the horse.  From what I've seen of your work so far, you've got alot to offer so keep it up.

Malebolgia,
Glad to see the cyberpunk thing is coming through a bit in this piece.  I don't play anything specifically cyberpunk at this time, but I really like the cyberpunk trope of mixing old masonry structures with more sci-fi'ish features.   I've been thinking recently about whether I might have just enough dust tactics and mantic deadzone bits to cobble together one more cyberpunk type building.

And here we arrive at the last phase of my preparations for my 28mm Mech Attack game at Adepticon.

As I've mentioned before, this year's addition to the game is flying units.  The Melk Defense Comand (Grey Team) will have access to a pair of troop transport helicopters and the Unified Colonies (Green Team) will be able to comandeer a pair of civilian heavy lifting helicopters.

I took the civie paint scheme from a local helicopter company, but to find out which one and see pics of the inspriation you'll have to visit the blog...
https://www.chicagoskirmishwargames.com/blog/2017/03/15/adepticon-prep-part-5-quadruple-copters/
... where you'll also find construction notes, in progress pictures, lots more finished pics, etc.

Oh man you always go all in on these things don't you! They look great and I can't wait for the next set of pictures from your game, they get better each year.
So did mech attack finally get air support rules or did you homebrew them?

I do like to go big!
I'll try and take plenty of pictures.

As for the rules, they are beta versions from the author with some tweaks by us.  I'm not sure, but I think they may be available on armorgrid games forum "The Grid".  Supposedly they will be included when Mech Attack 2 is released, but it's been in the works for a long time.

After all the prep, this year's 28mm Mech Attack battle finally happened last weekend at Adepticon.  At the risk of defaulting to a much-overused term, it was Epic.

The addition of Flying units and the new elevated Train terrain elements were very well recieved and really added to the drama of the game.

All 6 player spots were filled and everyone had a great time.

Thanks!
Hopefully we'll meet next year (or sooner if you happen to be near Chicago on a Thursday evening).  Unless something interferes I'll be running the game at Adepticon's Saturday morning as I have the last 3 years.   Also, my plan next year is to add a tarmac and some large spaceships!
