The train is rather special! I think the accidental cracking and weathering worked out a treat too!

Thanks for the kind words folks!

Axiom,
Yeah, I'm actually kind of happy with the way the accidents worked out.  Now I almost wish the orange coat had gone bad also!

The train is in no way looking like a toy anymore - and that´s good! Very well done!

Thanks again all!

Yaay, Mission accomplished.  Virtually all my terrain is based on resale-shop toy finds so anytime the end result can fool the eye that makes me very happy.

Very cool thread, lots of great ideas.

Your table at adepticon looked great last year.  This train will be a cool addition.

Thanks!  I've got some more track and I'm hoping to have a second train station by then, but I'm not sure I'll have enough time.  This train will definitely be there though.

Love the repurposed toys... really love that stuff!  The East Riding Corporate Wars figures are great too.  Richard

Been away a bit, but I'm back with a vengance and prepping for Adepticon. I'm going to be out of state for the 2 weeks prior to Adepticon so I've got just over a week to finish all my preparations.

The To-Do List:
1) Finalize the scenario details
2) Paint up 4 helicopters (2 infantry transport, 2 mech Transport)
3) Build and Paint 8-10 trestle's for the elevated Sci-Fi Train
4) Build and Paint another elevated Train Station.

I've made some progress on all of those and will be posting about it in the next few days.  I'm hoping to get most of it knocked out this weekend.

Tackling the first item on the list, I got together with my buddy yesterday and playtested the "Mech Attack" scenario that we'll be running at Adepticon.

The convention game will of course be in glorious 28mm, but our playtest was on the dinning table with our more manageable 10mm sci-fi forces.  This year's game is a step up from last year and includes aerial transport units for both infantry and mecha.

As the second part of my Adepticon prep, I painted up this very compact church...

...that I had converted from this musical clock decoration.

Despite ripping out the light and sound elements and the power supply I was still able to make the clock work!

Should add a nice little bit of flavor to my city without taking up much space. Lots more pre-and-post paint pics and construction notes here:

Nice transformation. If the angel hadn't been stolen you could also get out a statue from the original too.
