Hi - just wondering if anyone knows who sculpted the Foundry Colonial Sikhs.  See pic below:

I'd say the Perry twins - but it would only be a guess.  :)

I'd say Perry's as well. They are quite old, part of their north west frontier range I think, which must be mid 1990's.
I like the Copplestone sculpted ones that were part of the Darkest Africa range. :)

The Brigade ones are for the Great War. These appear to be of an earlier era.

Yup, these are from their North West Frontier range.  I like them cos apart from some variations in the waterbottle, rifle and valise, they wore basically the same uniform and webbing from 1880s up until 1916.  They can therefore be used for Sudan, Northwest Frontier and Back of Beyond (if not too fussy).

The Brigade and Copplestone Castings ones are for WW1 (up until 1916).  After 1916, they changed to shorts and did away with the Kurta tunic. (More like what the Copplestone Brits are wearing.)

Sorry, wasn't trying to show anybody up. They all look pretty much the same. It's just the little things that mark them, like the rifles they're carrying.

I have the Brigade ones and the Foundry Darkest Africa ones. I doubt I shall ever paint both. Knowing me, whichever mob gets done first will stand in for both eras.

I would like some Sikhs, and only didn't get them at the last show because I bought the Asien Korps instead. There's really few units as fun as the Sikhs are. Unless it's the completely insane Gurkhas.

Gurkhas are cool! :D  My friend has a kukri that was given to his grandfather from when he served in Burma with them.

I love the Gurkhas too! :D

Read "Bugles and a Tiger" and "The Road Past Mandalay" by John Masters for a really superb account of a British officer serving with the Gurkhas in the Northwest Frontier (1930s) then in Burma against the Japanese!
