"Beholder" class spybot
« on: September 09, 2014, 10:25:16 PM »
Here are some pics of a "Beholder" class spybot I sculpted a fair while ago but only painted up recently. I originally made this to be an overseer bot for some smaller resin spybots but I hit a production snag with those so they neither got released. I may resculpt the smaller floating bots at some point but either way I'm going to release the larger bot since I've a production mould now ready to go.

Cast in resin the model is nice and light and suited to flying stands. I prefer brass rod but standard clear plastic fightstands should work just fine.

It may look more sinister ( i.e. deathbot) in a different colour scheme, something like black/gold or black/red which I might try once I have some time and a few more cast up.

Thanks for looking!

it would make a good victory condition for a sat recovery mission game as well. Its really super so where do I buy some?

Seconded!

Would also make a handy Monitor (or Deathstar) for spaceship gaming too.

The only problem is that a photon torpedo shot down the thermal exhaust port blows those things up immediately....

But, they are awesome!

I'm wasn't going to put these little ones into production because they're a bugger to cast but I do have the mould so could make some if there demand is there. Here's an old pic to show what they're like painted (next to 15mm figures).

Very nice and useful sculpts 8)

Those smaller ones look very suitable for use as satelites (with some solar panels added perhaps) for X-Wing. If you decided to cast them, I might be interested in a couple for that purpose!

And of course the big one could be a small space station, or maybe even a gun platform...

Another use would be as some nice General Products hulls in spaceship gaming.

I always wondered where all that wireless connectivity came from in the Sprawl Trilogy.  "Oh we're in a disused warehouse in the middle of a brown site miles from anywhere?  Just jack in, will you?"
