Are you using the Liquitex inks for the spines & teeth, or adding in some paint as well for those details?

The final highlights, as well as teeth and spines, are done with opaque paint. Liquitex does make white ink actually, but it is a little translucent. I use basic Americana brand white, or Reaper MSP Golden Highlight for most highlights, mixed with some inks here and there.

I love the Liquitex inks... Also the FW range from Daler Rowney. A little goes a long way and they are always fun to play with. Your step-by-step is a great demonstration of their potential.

There is also some paint involved a bit with the yellow and deep reds. This was Golden brand Fluid Acrylics, an slightly heavier fluid paint like the ink. It works about the same though.
