Flames of War meets Martians?
« on: October 08, 2014, 06:36:36 PM »
Sorry, this is one of those times I wish I could post cross-fora.

With the advent of All Quiet on the Martian Front, designed for near-post-Edwardian (WWI if there had been one) Era, I was wondering if anyone knew of someone having whipped up some Martian invaders vs. Flames of War armies? A bit of Turtledove feel, I expect, but not so overwhelming one-sided from the beginning.

Ever since Dystopian Wars tried otherworldly nasties, I've wondered about FoW. I even know a few people who've avoided the local games 'until they bring in Martian tripods.'

I know a couple of folk here have suggested taking the AQotMF figs and proxy for, say, King Tigers as tripods, but I hoped someone figured something with a bit more exotic feel.

As always, Vague-R-Us.

Doug

There was Death Rays of War. Martians vs. 1950s GIs.

Thanks! No longer available, but the Wayback got me there.

I'll make sure I can print out the PDF tomorrow.

Well, still want tripods, but I think these can be modified.

While I'm trying to decide whether to go with giant-ized robots or hover saucers, I suspect I'll have to combine them

Thanks again!

Oh.

I have a very mixed bag of FoW tanks, 10 of which are actually painted. Mostly late '30s and early war models.
I have Martian tripods.

I never equated the two....!
Sounds fun.
Thus will take some digging, I'm afraid, to find the Martians - and the remaining unpainted tanks; and I cannot remember where my tripods (in two sizes) came from.  ???

I actually bought into the Kickstarter for this very reason. I'll start with Tigers for the tripods, 8-rads for drones, priests for the grenadier tripods and so on until I come up with something better.

Thanks for all the thoughts!

Haven't gotten further myself with the project, but there may be some local players thinking in the same direction.

We'll see...
